Finns 2021
In late summer 2021 we made a return visit to Helsinki, spending 6 weeks in the city as it emerged from lockdown. In contrast to our previous visit in 2013, this time the city was very quiet, with restrictions meaning it was still without its usual daily influx of tourists from cruise ships and ferries. This left time and space for locals and Finnish tourists to take advantage of the sights and amenities of this unique and special place. Meanwhile, normal city life resumed : shops, galleries and entertainment venues reopened their doors, students returned to schools and universities, and protests and demonstrations returned to the streets.
