Brooklyn Walk 2022
In April 2022 I accompanied my wife during her month-long visiting fellowship at New York University. Spring was arriving and the city was emerging from lockdown after the peak of the Covid epidemic. A highlight of my stay was a visit to Brooklyn’s industrial waterfront with street photographer and author James Maher. In the course of a 3-hour photo walk, James took me through a fascinating and eclectic landscape, which included waterside industrial architecture and scenery, stunning views of Manhattan across the bay, and lively street scenes. Our journey ended in Green-Wood cemetery, rightly described by James as “one of the most beautiful places in New York, located at the highest point in Brooklyn, with incredible views of the city”.
